Liepa Health Trail
In the heart of Liepa village, beside the striking Lielā Ellīte sandstone outcrop, you’ll find a unique sun dial and an inspiring barefoot wellness trail.
The Liepa Sun Dial is more than a timepiece – it’s a symbol of the Priekuļi municipality, even featured in its coat of arms. Designed exclusively for Liepa, the dial is crafted from a large fieldstone, with a metal face shaped like a linden (liepa) leaf. As sunlight passes through, it casts a precise shadow to show the time.
Next to the dial, the barefoot health trail invites visitors to reconnect with nature and well-being. Inspired by the village’s name and created with herbalist Artūrs Tereško, the trail is designed to stimulate reflex points on the feet, thought in alternative medicine to be linked to internal organs. Walk barefoot across a variety of natural textures – stones, leaves, bark – and enjoy the soothing massage beneath your soles.
