Looking for the perfect light hike on your day off? This scenic trail offers forest paths, country roads, and refreshing lake swims, making it ideal for a leisurely adventure with nature.
What to Expect
Start by walking along the right side of the lake, where the first 3 km pass through a protected micro-reserve – home to ancient oak and pine forests, with trees averaging 156–176 years old. Look out for:
- Woodpecker-carved trees
- Unusual plants
- Squirrel snack spots under the pines
Bring binoculars for birdwatching and to spot other wildlife in the forest and by the lakeshore!
The path continues along a quiet dirt road around the opposite side of the lake. You’ll pass through a magical young spruce grove, enjoy rural landscapes, and wave hello to locals near Vecriebiņi homestead before returning to the starting point.
End your walk with a refreshing dip in the lake – the perfect way to recharge!
