Guest house ZELTA KROGS
Located midway between Vecpiebalga and Jaunpiebalga, the ZELTA KROGS building takes its name from the historic tavern “Zelta Krogs” once situated nearby, which operated until the 1920s. The fathers of composer Emīls Dārziņš and poet Jānis Sudrabkalns once worked there as innkeepers. Although the original inn now lies in ruins, the legacy lives on in the nearby museum Jāņaskola, dedicated to both men’s childhoods.
Over the years, the newer ZELTA KROGS has continued to serve the community—as a shop, café, and guest house. Fully rebuilt and reopened in early 2024, it now welcomes visitors as a modern and cosy guesthouse.
