Open-air art gallery “Miers un bērziņš”
Warm greetings for our third season!
Peace and a little birch grove await you for a visit, to experience two stylistically radically different photo exhibitions.
This year, in our magical birch grove, you will enjoy the works of photographer Jānis Zilvers in the exhibition “Presence. In the Gauja Valley.” Unique moments of living nature and meditative landscapes, complemented by the author’s apt commentary.
The author says about himself: “I am an adventure seeker, a geographer by education with a deep interest in natural processes and animal behavior. I believe that a day is not successful unless spent in nature and experiencing something new. My goal is to show you things that you do not see or do not know how to notice.”
Meanwhile, in the newly set up outdoor exhibition gallery, we invite you to visit the internationally recognized Italian photographer Luca Berti’s return to Latvia with the photo exhibition “Black and White,” where you will discover a series of expressive black-and-white analog portraits and landscapes created thirteen years ago in Piebalga, Vidzeme, and other parts of Latvia.
Faithful throughout his career to the desire to preserve cultural heritage through analog photography, Luca Berti continues to document the interaction between humans and nature. The exhibited works are part of his long-term project Man and Nature — a visual journey that began in 2011 and has now become a part of the artist’s life work. So far, it covers Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the Baltic countries, with future stages planned in Italy, Slovakia, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland.
For children, we offer the chance to become Photo Detectives by looking for bird and animal photographs in the grove using a special task card.
On Pyramid Hill, find peace within yourself and build your own stone pyramid.
