Virtual Reality Binoculars “The Battle of Cēsis”

The Battle of Cēsis was one of the most significant turning points in the Latvian War of Independence (1918–1920). On 5 June 1919, the first stage of the battle began with a clash between the armoured trains of the Estonian Army and the units of the Landeswehr near the Ieriķi railway station, by the bridge over the River Amata.

To commemorate this event, a tourist site has been created at the Ieriķi station, offering visitors the chance to experience this historical story through the possibilities provided by modern technology – with the help of virtual reality. The five-minute video “The Battle at the Bridge over the Amata” can be viewed in the virtual reality binoculars free of charge every day.

The video material is created in 360 degrees, so visitors are encouraged to rotate the binoculars in all directions to gain a more comprehensive impression.

Video duration: 5 minutes.
Video language: Latvian with subtitles in LV, EN, EE, and ESP.

The VR experience was developed by VRcentrs.lv.
