Startu Lake
Startu Lake is a flowing lake located in Mārsnēni Parish, Cēsis Municipality, Latvia. On its southern shore lies the village built around Startu Manor, which also gave the lake its name. Startu Lake spans 13.2 hectares.
A notable feature of the lake’s southern shore is the Veidenbaums Stone—named after the celebrated Latvian poet. It is believed he frequently sat here and perhaps even penned his well-known poem “Domāju es domas dziļas” (“I Think Deep Thoughts”) right on this very rock.
The public swimming area by the lake is equipped with well-maintained picnic spots, fire pits, benches, tables, changing rooms, and restrooms—making it an inviting destination for both locals and visitors.
