This permanent historical exhibition tells the powerful story of resistance by the people of the former Cēsis district against both Soviet and Nazi occupation forces between 1940 and 1957.
Through documents, artefacts, and personal stories, the exhibition honours those who fought for Latvia’s freedom, offering a deeper understanding of the era’s complex political landscape and human courage.
During the winter season, the exhibition building remains closed, but visits are still possible. A member of staff from the Cēsis Medieval Castle will come to unlock the doors for you.
