Kārļamuiža Ainavu Park
Discover one of Latvia’s most breathtaking natural destinations — the Amata Ainavu (Landscape) Cliffs near Kārļi Manor, where Devonian sandstone and dolomite formations, pristine ravines, gurgling streams and historic park trails create a rich and immersive experience for nature lovers and hikers.
Geological Marvel of the Amata Valley
Located just 1 km from Kārļi Manor, the Ainavu Cliff is a protected geological monument and one of the largest Devonian rock outcrops in the Baltics. Stretching over 500 metres and rising up to 45 metres in height, the cliff features:
- Bizenes Rock,
- Ainavu Rock, and
- Ērgļu Cliffs — among the tallest rock formations in the region.
A Romantic Landscape Park
This 18th-century landscape park, inspired by English garden traditions, was carefully designed to preserve nature’s untouched beauty. Paths wind organically along the right bank of the Amata River, passing through forests, ravines, and cliffs. Fallen trees were left in place to be overgrown with moss, blending artfully into the scenery.
You’ll also find:
- Ancient apple orchards,
- Historical dendrological plantings,
- A man-made waterfall, and
- Charming rest areas, perfect for peaceful reflection or a picnic.
Amata Trail
Running along the right side of the Amata River, the Amata Trail offers unparalleled views of the cliffs, ancient forests, and deep valleys — ideal for hikers, photographers, and geology enthusiasts.
