Woodcraft Museum
The Woodcraft Museum, located in Vienkoči Park, is designed as a historic woodworking workshop, offering visitors a hands-on insight into how craftsmen once created everyday items for manor lords and local people alike.
The museum and its surrounding park showcase the evolution of woodworking, from the Stone Age to the present day, with a special focus on the traditional dugout canoe (vienkocis) and its crafting process. The tools and techniques on display span centuries of wood-based heritage.
Much of the museum is interactive, with fully functional 19th–20th century-style workbenches powered by motors, belts and a transmission shaft – reflecting an authentic workshop setting from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
The exhibit is continuously being developed and enriched. Themed events often include woodworking masterclasses, giving visitors the chance to learn skills first-hand from expert artisans.
