Holiday guide – discover what Vecpiebalga has to offer

On July 24 and 25, Vecpiebalga invites you to visit. If you think this is just another festival to attend in the summer, Vecpiebalga will show you why this is an excellent gift you can give yourself. Vecpiebalga is a place where traditions have been preserved for centuries, and culture is deeply ingrained in every farmstead, house, and Vecpiebalga resident. During the festival “Vecpiebalga atver durvis 2026” the heart of this part of Cēsis Municipality will beat louder than usual, because Vecpiebalga and Ineši will become a place where art and music, old and new, peace and movement meet. But even if the festival didn’t take place – Vecpiebalga is worth visiting and, in fact, still an unfamiliar destination to many.

We know that time flies when things are interesting, so we invite you to slow down and take in with your heart everything this place has to offer.

Discover the stories of Vecpiebalga in museums
Discover the rich cultural and literary heritage of Vecpiebalga by visiting the Kārļa Skalbe Memorial Museum “Saulrieti”, the Memorial Museum of the Brothers Kaudzītes “Kalna Kaibēni”, the Antons Austriņš Memorial Museum “Kaikaši”, and the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum Rural Exhibition “Vēveri”. These places let you explore both the lives of renowned writers and the old Piebalga farmsteads and traditions.

Vecpiebalga Manor
The picturesque landscape park of the Vecpiebalga manor complex is complemented by a number of places worth visiting: the Piebalga Porcelain Factory with painting workshops, the Gardenia Eco candle workshop, the Apimi – Natural bee cosmetics and the Orisāre exhibition hall. For some activities, it’s recommended to book in advance.

Enjoy a leisurely break in the birch grove, where you can see two outdoor photo exhibitions – Jānis Zilvers “Klātbūtne. Gaujas ielejā” and Italian photographer Luca Berti’s exhibition “Melnbalti”. For the little ones, there’s a Photo Detective activity, and on Pyramid Hill, everyone is invited to build their own stone pyramid and find peace in nature.

Meet the friendly alpacas and take a leisurely walk through the picturesque hills of Piebalga. During your visit, you will learn more about these animals, have the opportunity to feed them, and enjoy a peaceful retreat in nature. There is also a shop on site offering alpaca wool products and souvenirs. Visits are by appointment only.

Museum “Cinema Farm”

The only cinematography exhibition in Latvia – historic cameras, projectors, and an authentic film screening from movie reels. The collector’s narration will allow you to explore the history of cinema and the behind-the-scenes of film production from a completely different perspective.

A beekeeping farm with more than 30 years of experience. During the tour, you will be able to taste honey and bee products, learn about their valuable properties, and purchase natural cosmetics and bee delicacies. Prior registration is required.

Vecpiebalga is not a place to rush. It’s a place to linger a little longer. And a festival is a great reason to visit here for the first time, but you might find that you want to come back.
