Jaunrūjas Garden

Nestled in the scenic Latvian countryside, “Jaunrūjas” is a family-run farm and botanical collection curated by horticulturists Guna and Jānis Rukšāni. The farm is a living museum of ornamental perennials, rare bulb flowers, peonies, phloxes, lilies, hostas, and water lilies.

A World of Bulbs and Blooms
Jānis Rukšāns is an internationally renowned bulb specialist, author of several acclaimed books including “The World of Crocuses” and “Buried Treasures”. His greenhouse crocus collection is the largest in the world, with flowering beginning in mid-March. Spring continues with muscari, scilla, winter aconite, tulips, and rare alliums.

Guna Rukšāne’s Floral Kingdom
In May, over 250 peony varieties burst into bloom, followed by Siberian irises, hundreds of phlox cultivars, and numerous lilies by July. Guna also cultivates 250 varieties of hostas and 70 water lily species, showcased across garden ponds and basins. She is the author of “Garden Magic”, “Phlox”, “Garden Power”, and “Hostas”.
