Is Wild Camping Allowed in Latvia?

Yes – under Latvian Forest Law (Article 5), individuals are allowed to camp in forests as long as:

  • The location is not within a protected nature reserve or restricted zone;
  • The area is not marked with signs like “Private Property” or “No Entry”.

Staying Longer or Camping in Groups

Organizing a camping trip with more than 50 people? You’ll need to get written permission in advance.
Planning to camp in one location for more than 7 days? You’ll need to notify Latvia’s State Forests in writing.
