ZELTA KROGS bicycle routes and rental

With its rolling hills, rich cultural history and a vast web of quiet gravel roads, Piebalga is a dream destination for cycling enthusiasts. Zelta Krogs offers six distinct cycling routes, ideal for every level—from casual explorers to seasoned riders. Standard MTB bikes (x4) are available for hire on-site, with up to 20 electric bikes accessible through advance booking via elektroezi.lv. All route access is donation-based.

Routes:

• Kalna Kaibēni Tour (59 km): A challenging yet breathtaking loop past K. Skalbe Museum, Vecpiebalga Manor, lakes and mills. (25% asphalt / 75% gravel)
• Piebalga Cultural Tour (46 km): E. Dārziņš Museum, Zosēni, heritage pubs, green railway route and lakes. (95% gravel)
• Jaunpiebalga Tour (49 km): Visit the amphitheatre, art school, Gauja riverbanks and more. (50/50 asphalt & gravel)
• Vecpiebalga Tour (29 km): The shortest and easiest route to the birthplace of water lilies and Lake Alauksts. (70% asphalt)
• Lielmežs Tour (35 km): Venture into remote gravel forest roads, river views and silence. (90% gravel)
• Expert Raid XXL (75 km): For endurance cyclists—an intense, panoramic loop through historic sites and wild terrain. (85% gravel)
